History of Skoda

Skoda is a Czech car manufacturer that has been around since 1895. Founded by Vaclav Klement and Vaclav Laurin, the company has gone through many changes over the years, from its early days as a bicycle manufacturer to its current status as one of the most popular car brands in Europe.

The company was originally founded as Laurin & Klement in 1895 and initially focused on producing bicycles. The company quickly grew and by 1905 they had produced their first automobile, the Voiturette A. This was the first car produced in what is now the Czech Republic and was a success.

In 1925, the company was acquired by the Skoda Works, a Czech industrial conglomerate. This allowed the company to expand and develop more advanced cars. In 1934, the company released the Skoda Popular, which was the first mass-produced car in the country. This car was a huge success and was followed by the Skoda Rapid in 1936.

The company continued to produce cars during World War II, but production was limited due to the war. After the war, the company was nationalized and production resumed. In 1959, the company released the Skoda Octavia, which was the first car to be exported outside of the Czech Republic.

In 1991, the company was privatized and the name was changed to Skoda Auto. Since then, the company has continued to grow and expand. It has released many popular models such as the Fabia, Octavia, Superb, and Kodiaq.
